I remember picking up Castle Wolfenstein at the shareware rack at a grocery store many years ago, introduce some first person shooter. Then came Doom, introduce first person shoot each other. We spent all day getting that game to work over a parallel connection with the crappy DOS network files of the time just so we could shoot each other in a 3D world. Then we advance way in to the future... Half-Life...then Counterstrike. I spent many a sleepless night playing that game. I finally quit though, it was just too consuming, it was like a bad drug habit. Every once in a while I get together with a friend who rents Halo and borrows and X-Box from another friend. We get out some of that grubby aggression. It's really hard going from the precise control of a mouse and keyboard to a big old goofy controller. Also the split screen kind of takes away the element of surprise. So a few weekends ago we rented an additional X-Box and Halo game and I made a twisted network cable. We set up the TV's opposite and had some fun 4 player team-play. It's great with the vehicles, you can ride around while your buddy blasts everything away with the turret. Even though you are with your friends having a good time, when you work really hard to get a bunch of stuff and get to a certain place and then they just snipe you in the head and think it's funny, that makes you really want to hurt them. -Tyler
